How PORE!SCAN works

For manufacturers who demand the highest standards for their products, we developed PORE!SCAN – a measurement system that enables fast and easy optical analysis of the pore structure of various cellular materials, from rigid and filter foams to porous building materials, mineral insulation, and metal foam.

Step 1: Sample preparation

To generate reliable results, a high-quality sample with a clear pore structure is essential. There should be strong contrast between the pore and the matrix, and the pores should not be translucent. You can ensure this by preparing the sample using a special cutting method and treating it with the PORE!SCAN contrast agent.

Step 2: Analysis

The PORE!SCAN system conducts an optical examination of the prepared sample using a special illumination method that highlights height differences on the sample surface. This makes the number and shape of the pores visible.

After setting the desired parameters (e.g., positioning, exposure time, zoom, etc.), the image is captured, and the recorded sample image is displayed.

 

Step 3: Ressults and evaluation

The specially developed software for the system allows you to read the results, including a clear graphical representation of the analyzed sample. You can adjust the image or take a new one with modified parameters.

Once the image is saved, Excel automatically starts, and all data is written into the pre-selected template files. We provide a basic structure, and the rest can be customized individually.
